Gen-Zers who inspire us everyday

This guide only highlights 6 of the thousands of Gen-Zers who inspire us everyday. They’re the people we follow on social media and whose journeys we’re privileged to be a part of. These inspiring individuals show that you’re never too young to make a difference and that change more often than not comes from the young.

Read on to find out more about these inspiring individuals and how you can follow their journey on social media. With these Gen-Zers, the future looks bright.

Maya Ghazal

Maya was the first female Syrian refugee to become a pilot. After arriving in the UK in 2015, Maya has been advocating for the rights of refugees and even taught herself English. She’s recently been appointed to the role of Goodwill Ambassador for the UNCHR – focusing on supporting refugees.

You can follow Maya’s journey, her work with the UN, and her life as a pilot and engineer on Instagram.

Kenya Shania

Can we have a moment to appreciate Kenya? They’re a non-binary blogger, writing, and supermodel. We love seeing their beautiful outfits appear on our Instagram feed. Their podcast ‘Level with Shania’ is all about teaching the art of self-awareness and self-acceptance, while tackling societal issues like gender norms.

If you’re looking for a new podcast to binge-listen to, we can’t remember this one highly enough! Follow their Instagram to stay up to date with all things Kenya.

Grete Henriette

When you want to find the change-makers in a generation, look at the fashion industry. Grete is a London-based fashion designer that creates 16th-century inspired outfits that are designed for queer bodies. She skilfully blends the recognisable aesthetic of the era with a futuristic twist, while pushing the fashion industry to become more inclusive.

Most of her designs incorporate upholstery material, while she borrows jewellery from her friends to create regal-worthy looks. Grete’s goal is to tackle the stigma associated with queerness within the fashion industry by creating a safe space for trans and non-binary people.

Honey Ross

You may know her as the daughter of celebrity Jonathan Ross, but Honey has a profile all of her own. As a body positive activist, she’s also a writer and model who uses her social media platform to promote inclusivity and acceptance of all body types. As part of her work, Honey co-founded ‘Pink Protest’ a platform that focuses on campaigning for free period products and ending the practice of FGM. She’s also the co-host of the podcast ‘Body Protest’, examining the relationship we all have with ourselves.

You can follow the adventures of Honey – and her cat Maura – on her Instagram.

Zendaya

No power list is complete without a celebrity mention. Zendaya is one Hollywood star who isn’t afraid to be vocal about her work. While she doesn’t call herself an activist, Zendaya has spoken candidly about issues around colourism and black actors in Hollywood. She’s taken a stood against cultural appropriation and has been known to turn down roles that she believed belong to actors with a darker skin tone.

Whether you’re a fan of her ethos or her movies, Zendaya is one of our favourite celebrities to follow on Instagram.

Yaz Demand

Yaz is an icon within the black trans community, using her platform on TikTok to talk about her experience as a black trans woman. She focuses on “giving trans goddess realness”, while not being afraid to talk about her experience of transitioning. Yaz has covered topics such as dating and calling out transphobic behaviour.

She has almost 290k followers on TikTok with over 11.8 million likes. Yaz deserves a spot on your FYP page or Instagram feed.
