Shimmery Holiday Makeup

We’re kickstarting this guide off with a makeup look by @stxph.h on TikTok. Steph starts with a dewy base with a flawless foundation application, focusing on brightening the under-eye area. You can use a beauty blender for an even application and to avoid creasing under your eyes. A cream contour is your best friend for a more natural bronze look.

The centrepiece of this shimmery holiday makeup look is the eyeshadow colours. You can recreate it by starting with a gold shimmer shade, applying it into the crease. Use a darker shade of brown to add definition to your eyeshadow look. What makes this New Year’s makeup look unique is the olive-green eyeshadow that you’ll add across the eyelid for a nature-inspired look.

Bring the olive green to the outer corner of your eyes, adding a touch of metallic shimmer for a NYE look. Use your go-to mascara or a pair of falsies to open your eyes and give the illusion of darker, thicker lashes. Finish off your base makeup with a peach blush and a touch of gold highlighter. Add a coat of rose-pink lipstick for perfectly kissable lips.

The glowy NYE look

Do you prefer to keep your makeup look more understated? We’re obsessed with this glowy makeup tutorial by @jourdansloane on TikTok.

Start by creating a flawless makeup base with your usual makeup products. You want to focus on getting an even coverage with a foundation and concealer that adds a glow to your skin. The focal point of your makeup look is the eyeshadows. This TikTok shares a hack of using a sheet of paper to help achieve the perfect angled crease without worrying about eyeshadow fallout.

Blend the eyeshadow across your eyelid and crease before taking a concealer to clean up the area under your crease and achieve a blunt finish. Use a lighter metallic shade on the inner corner of your eye to give the illusion of whitener, larger eyes. Add a few dots of a liquid highlighter and blend into your cheekbones for an illuminous look.

Apply your false eyelashes with tweezers before applying a coat of mascara to your top and lower lashes. Don’t forget to add a highlighter to the tip of your nose. Use a berry red lip liner before filling in your lips with a lipstick before topping it off with a clear gloss.

Hollywood glamour

Our third NYE look is a glamorous smokey eye with a red lipstick. It’s the perfect look for any NYE celebration, whether you’re attending a party in the city or staying at home with your friends.

After applying your base makeup – including highlighter and your brows – use a primer across your eyelid. Start with a light black shade and apply it to the outer corner of your eyelid and crease. Apply a lighter brown shade on top of the black shadow, moving towards the centre of your eyelid.

Blend the two shades outwards to create a cat-eye shape. With a beige brown shade, use a fluffy shader brush across your crease to bring the darker shades together. Use a concealer and flat brush to create a cut crease in the inner corner of your eyelid to help the metallic part of your look pop.

Apply a gold metallic shimmer shade on top of the concealer, padding it on gently. You can help brighten your eyeshadow look by using a lighter gold shimmer in the inner corner of your eye for an ombre effect. Add a black eyeliner to your lower lash line before finishing off your makeup with your signature false lashes or mascara.
